What are the signs my pet is aging?

When it comes to aging, the signs and symptoms for all breeds are different. Pets age much faster than humans, and their aging rate typically depends on their breed and size. At 11-years-old cats are generally considered seniors, while dogs enter their golden years slightly earlier at 7-years-old. Signs to look out for that your pet might be aging include:

  • Arthritis
  • Decreased mobility
  • Disorientation
  • Graying and loss of fur
  • Hearing and vision loss
  • Changes in weight

How can I support my senior pet?

One of the best ways to support your senior pet is to regularly bring them in for a veterinary exam (at least once every six months). This allows us to monitor your pet’s health and create a plan to alleviate any pain or symptoms they may be experiencing. At home, a great way to support your senior pet is to keep them physically and mentally active.
